We occasionally place retired dogs in pet homes. Dogs are retired around the age of 5 years so they still have many enjoyable years left. They are usually housetrained and crate trained. They are current on all vaccinations, rabies, and heartworm preventative. There is a rehoming fee for this to help cover the cost of spaying/neutering and dental cleaning (if necessary) before going to their new home. Rehoming fees are usually $100-$300. We do not ask to make a profit off of our grown dogs we just want them to go to their new home healthy with nothing for the new owner to have to have done.
If you see one of our dogs listed as retired and think that you would like to give that dog a forever retirement home, then please give me a call or email me. We will consider whether it is the "right" home for that dog. We prefer not to ship adult dogs but will consider it if necessary based on our knowledge of the individual dog.
We do not haphazardly place adult dogs. We have raised every one of them from a baby and they are all very special to us. We have certain things that we look for in a retirement home. Unfortunately, we have placed a few that have not worked out and this has broken our hearts. Adult dogs that are placed are always welcomed back with open arms!
We do not place our adult dogs to "get rid" of them. We do it because we feel that it is in the best interest of the dog to go to a home where they can be spoiled and given the attention that they deserve. We try our best to give every one of them attention but they do have to take their turn in a kennel and are not always in the house. We would keep all of them if we could but that is just being selfish and not putting the animal's needs first.
